The Story of Sunnybrook Living

Sunnybrook Ranch began with the belief that a love of horses, family, and community could create something extraordinary. Over time, it grew into far more than a top equestrian facility. Sunnybrook reflects generations of dedication, discipline, and traditions passed down through family.

Here, horses are part of the family, florals mark the seasons, and gatherings feel comfortable and genuine, shaped by the rhythms of ranch life.

Sunnybrook Living grew naturally from this foundation. Led by Erin Bruce, Sunnybrook Living provides floral design services and offers Sunnybrook Ranch as a setting for private events. It reflects a shared way of living that values creativity, connection, and thoughtful gatherings.

Our mission is to honor the legacy of those who built Sunnybrook by celebrating the beauty of ranch life — the cadence of the horses, the changing seasons, and the moments that bring people together.

The Family

Sunnybrook began in 1997 as a family dream. Built by Que and Carolyn Smart for their granddaughter, Rebecca Bruce, the ranch was created as a place for Rebecca to pursue her passion for horses and build a life rooted in dedication and purpose.

Que and Carolyn poured themselves into the land. Carolyn tended the gardens, bringing beauty and life to the ranch, while Que, raised on a working sheep ranch, cared for the property with pride.

Rebecca’s riding career grew alongside the ranch, and after Que’s passing in 2002, she lived on the property with her grandmother until Carolyn passed in 2014.

Carolyn’s daughter, Erin Smart Bruce, inherited her mother’s love of design and florals. Erin and Carolyn worked together for many years in their interior design business, Smart Originals. Today, Erin leads Sunnybrook Living while continuing to steward the ranch alongside her husband, Michael Bruce.

Living on the property deepened Erin’s lifelong passion for florals. Building on the gardens her mother planted, she expanded the roses and seasonal blooms throughout the ranch. Erin studied floral design at FlowerSchool New York and traveled to Holland to learn from leading tulip growers and auction houses.

Sunnybrook’s legacy continues through the next generation of the Bruce family.
